Through their cooperation IT solution provider ENTIRETEC and application specialist at-visions serve luxury hotels worldwide with a unique centrally manageable network technology. This allows precision-controlled access to data, applications and services such as High Speed Internet Access, Digital Signage, User-driven Entertainment and leading IPTV.

With entities and interconnected data centers around the world ENTIRETEC is devoted to provide availability and connectivity of data, content and global IT infrastructure instead of only IT networks. To support this vision ENTIRETEC has developed the Core Layer Technology (CLT), a globally capable managed network technology which allows straightforward but precision-controlled access to data, applications and services.

Right upon this enabling layer ONEvision Hotel TV and ONEsignage Digital Signage from application specialist at-visions as well as ENTIRETEC’s own application for High Speed Internet Access named SECTOR will be integrated. All of these applications on top of the CLT platform in one of several global data centers from where data is transmitted to the individual customer locations. This solution makes it possible to provide Hospitality clients with managed applications and services, increasing operational efficiency as well as saving costs.

Within this technology partnership ENTIRETEC and at-visions will develop further customized solutions to be integrated in the CLT platform. The joint solutions are especially interesting for large Hospitality chains, often operating many properties with different needs and brandings in several countries. All applications sitting on CLT can be centrally managed, adapted for the respective property and are designed for flexible, on demand service allocation.

Several projects with hospitality chains in the Middle East and Europe are already in the pipeline for the first two quarters of 2012.

Thomas Herrmann, CEO and owner of ENTIRETEC comments: "Both our companies have a very similar DNA, being user-focused instead of silo technology-focused. This makes cooperating with at-visions easy and constructive. Furthermore, our combined compe-tences are a perfect fit on our way to fulfill a vision we have in common with our Hospitality customers and future partners. That said it really doesn't surprise me that the feedback we got from the industry for our combined offer so far was really overwhelming."

Roman Kirisits, CEO of at-visions adds: "The underlying architecture of our ONEvision and ONEsignage applications was always build with the advantages of web based, centralized services in mind. Now the necessary infrastructure is available to enable our visions and we are very pleased to make use of it with a professional and experienced partner like ENTIRETEC on our side. Delivering first class interactive Hotel IPTV and Digital Signage as easy as switching on the light - that's the way it should be."

"A STREAMLINED IT SOLUTION" | WILLI TINNER, CIO OF MÖVENPICK HOTELS & RESORTS GIVES AN INTERVIEW ON ENTIRETEC, December 9th, 2011

Source: Hotel Management International, Summer 2011, Page 77

Many hotel groups are hindered by a plethora of different information technology systems. Willi Tinner, CIO of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, explains how his organisation joined forces with ENTIRETEC to create a standardised all-in-one network solution with that is efficient, flexible and secure.

Information technology is becoming fundamental to the running of many hotels. As well as the traditional functions such as handling reservations and payroll, computer systems are increasingly being used to collect and analyse customer information to facilitate the creation of more focused marketing strategies.
These demands will only increase as hospitality chains become bigger and more geographically diverse. Chains often end up with various unconnected networks and data centres, which make it very difficult to share vital information and carry out necessary functions across an organisation. Most of these challenges were faced by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, the upscale Switzerland-based chain.
“We had a very heterogeneous environment consisting of different technologies and services from different providers,” explains chief information officer Willi Tinner. “This is an issue that is very common in the hospitality industry, especially concerning data network and high-speed internet access.” To bring its diverse computer systems into alignment, Mövenpick brought in technology provider ENTIRETEC.
Founded in 2003, the Germany-based company has offices across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America and Africa. It also has a track record of providing technical solutions and consultancy for the hospitality industry.

Introducing Core Layer Technology
ENTIRETEC’s main product offering is known as Core Layer Technology (CLT), an enabling layer that sits on top of an organisation’s existing network. Without having to modify or remove any in-place systems, CLT provides a flexible and secure platform from which a host of key applications and functions can be accessed (e.g. SECTOR, Firewall, VPN, etc). The agility of CLT allows a hotel chain to connect many individual site networks, making all content accessible from any location. This has the effect of minimising an IT department’s administrative load and removes the need for heavy investment in hardware.
“CLT can be seen as the major centre for controlling and connecting any kind of guest technology, such as high-speed
internet access, guest information system, entertainment systems and room controls,” Tinner explains. “As CLT is connected to our in-house systems, content and services can be provided according to guest preferences, enhancing their experience.”

Global connectivity
New hotels can be connected swiftly, which for Mövenpick, was particularly important. The chain is pursuing an aggressive course of expansion, with more than 30 hotels currently under development and properties in its core markets in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
“ENTIRETEC was the provider of our global data network services,” explains Tinner. “But because of our good partnership and the quality of services provided, we decided to choose them for our high-speed internet access solution as well. As Mövenpick is a company on the growth path, we need network connectivity all over the world.”
ENTIRETEC’s philosophy is focused on the customer, not the technology as is often the case. It understands that many hospitality employees do not have the time or the inclination to deal with the nuts and bolts of their IT systems and so all maintenance, monitoring and upgrades are carried out by ENTIRETEC. The company delivers individual applications as managed services that can be combined in a variety of ways to provide a customised solution, allowing the customer to take full control of systems development.
“We are very happy with the common technology across the whole enterprise,” says Tinner. “Also, due to the fact that we control the system, we can react to the fast-changing requirements of the market. ENTIRETEC is an agile company that provides reliable technology and this flexibility was especially important.”
As information systems become increasingly
heterogeneous, platforms such as CLT could come to play an increasingly important role in the hospitality sector.

ENTIRETEC´S CUSTOMERS AND BUSINESS PARTNER COLLECTED 4.000 EURO FOR A GOOD CAUSE AT THE SPORTS EVENT HEXATHLON 2011, September 3rd, 2011

On September 2nd, 2011 the Dresden IT Specialist ENTIRETEC again challenges his customers and business partners during the sports competition. The pre-condition to take part in the “ENTIRETEC Hexathlon 2011” was a start fee which has been donated to the benefit of the association stoffwechsel e.V. for children and teenagers projects. In total 4.000 Euro have been collected.

Last Friday, already for the second time the ENTIRETEC headquarters was converted into a huge sportive outside facility. Twelve teams, four to six players each, participated in the competition divided into six athletic disciplines so every participant could prove his fitness and dexterity. In addition to customers and business partners from the IT specialist, two further teams took part in the event: ENTIREINFRA as well as stoffwechsel e.V. themselves.

The olympic spirit was clearly in focus. Each team could stand out in quite “classical” sports like squash, table tennis, soccer and table soccer but also in two unusual sports diciplines namely office golf and “pushing colleagues” where their risible muscles worked a lot!

However the target of the event was more than a purely sportive challenge. Thomas Hermann, CEO and active player within his team, mentioned that "'Hexathlon' was a good opportunity to invite our customers and business partners to provide them a deeper insight into our company in a relaxed atmosphere, to get talking with each other and to exchange new ideas”.

Beyond that, physical efforts from the afternoon served for a good cause. Indeed the start fees per have been donated to stoffwechsel e.V., a charitable association located in Dresden which takes care of various projects for children and teenagers. In return the association created the cup for the winner. The best team got the first prize whereas stoffwechsel e.V. received a 4.000 euro cheque as counter move.

“Having a nice time and helping” that is how Ralf Knauthe, co-founder and head of stoffwechsel e.V., summarized in a deeply moved way both aspects of the sporting day and thanked each team for its kind support. The money collected will help to finance the facilities of the new meeting place for children located on the Markusstraße in Dresden Pieschen.

ENTIRETEC LIAISES WITH LUXURY HOTEL GROUP KEMPINSKI ON A MANAGED SERVICE CONCEPT FOR SECURE GUEST INTERNET, July 11th, 2011

The introduction of high-speed internet access (HSIA) at Kempinski has seen the hotel group opt for ENTIRETEC’s SECTOR application and flexible Managed Service concept. The first implementation project has already been carried out at the prestigious Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains St. Moritz in Switzerland, with additional Kempinski group hotels to follow by 2013.

ENTIRETEC SECTOR enables Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group Kempinski to give its guests and employees secure, high-availability access to network resources and the internet. The design phase placed key emphasis on user friendliness, flexibility and cost management.

To give an example of the benefits, the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains is now able to use ENTIRETEC’s novel Managed Service concept to create a bespoke IT landscape which can be tailored to the specific needs of guests and employees at any time. What is more, the luxury hotel group not only avoids the considerable costs associated with system modifications, licenses and the additional purchase of individual software solutions, but also minimizes administrative effort thanks to the central management of guest internet services.

ENTIRETEC takes central responsibility for configuration, maintenance and support – allowing the luxury hotel group to focus on its core business. Thomas Herrmann, CEO at ENTIRETEC, is proud to have gained Kempinski as a client: “After months of concerted cooperation, we are pleased to have successfully implemented the pilot project in St. Moritz – and of course to have won over a global brand such as Kempinski with our Managed Service concept. It provides Kempinski with a basis for the flexible expansion and central management of the application across all its hotels.”

The innovative guest internet solution welcomes users with a user-friendly landing page structured according to the elegant Kempinski design template. From there they can register and gain automatic access to the services they are authorized to use. Data security is naturally guaranteed from the perspective of both hotel guests and group employees.

A link to the hotel group‘s in-house property management system enables SECTOR to draw on existing guest data, thereby facilitating user-specific internet services such as a personalized greeting or allocation to a particular bandwidth. A number of billing models are available and applied according to the guest’s status. Last but not least, the traceability and accurate dating of any instances of misuse ensure that the guest internet solution fulfills all legal requirements.

Stefan Bader, Director of Hotel Technology at the Kempinski Group, underlines the benefits: “Our guests are highly demanding when it comes to service, comfort and convenience. The personalized internet solution developed by ENTIRETEC allows us to engage in active dialogue with users and provide them with a secure online environment which is tailored to their preferences. Even at this early stage, the positive feedback we have received from both hotel guests and employees shows that in choosing this solution we have taken an innovative step towards enhanced customer loyalty.”

By 2013 a further five Kempinski hotels are to be equipped with and centrally managed by the novel guest internet solution developed by ENTIRETEC.

ENTIRETEC CENTRALIZES IT FOR TUI HOTEL BRANDS IBEROTEL AND DORFHOTEL AND CONVINCES WITH ITS MANAGED SERVICES, March 31st, 2011

Using an innovative concept, ENTIRETEC is standardizing the IT infrastructure of the TUI hotel brands DORFHOTEL and Iberotel Hotel & Resorts, making managed service available to them at all locations. Those make it possible to establish one administration to cover every location while flexibly extending all systems.

Up to now there has been no link between the IT structures of the individual hotels. Fast growth and partly inadequate group standards have brought with them a variety of IT infrastructures. “As a result of this each hotel has worked with its own configuration and security standards. This has meant a heavy administrative load for us and has made it impossible to establish central services that could be used by every hotel,” states Michael Franke, CEO of Iberotel Hotel & Resorts and DORFHOTEL, in describing the initial situation.

Building on the hotel infrastructure, IT specialist ENTIRETEC developed a central user and security administration, which was implemented together with an e-mail system and further applications on virtual servers in the ENTIRETEC data center. By means of a high-security internet link (VPN) data are transmitted from there to the individual hotel locations and permanently synchronized. This solution makes it possible to provide all hotels with applications and services, increasing operational efficiency as well as saving costs.

ENTIRETEC assumes all related services as managed service. Speaking about the advantages of this, Thomas Herrmann, ENTIRETEC CEO, says: “We want the hotels to concentrate on their core business. With our managed service concept the two hotel chains are able to minimize the administrative load for IT and avoid investing heavily in hardware. What is more, it is always possible to link new hotels or applications quickly and easily in order to be in a position to react flexibly to market demands and customer requirements.”

The joint project initially covers the centralization of eleven DORFHOTEL and Iberotel establishments, as well as the Head Office in Hanover, making a start with the hotels in Fleesensee, Boltenhagen and Sylt.

Quoted from the Radware Channel Newsletter of December 2010:

“Congratulations to ENTIRETEC, who has been named the Radware EMEA Reseller of the Month for November. Germany-based ENTIRETEC, which operates internationally through its entities in Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and North America, has developed particular expertise in providing highly secure and outstand-ing IT solutions and services for medical facilities and other highly demanding sectors. Over the past few months, ENTIRETEC has been working to complete a large-scale dep-loyment at University Hospital Magdeburg (UKMD) in Saxony-Anhalt. UKMD, customer of ENTIRETEC since 2004, needed a solution for ensuring local and global server availa-bility and for improving the performance of its data center applications. In June of this year, ENTIRETEC proposed Radware’s AppDirector, the intelligent Application Controller solution for application switching, followed up with a rapid installation project and a demo. Full live implementation was completed in November, leading to a one- year service contract for ENTIRETEC and the likelihood of an extended contract down the line.”

Says Julian Kraft, Managing Director of the new formed ENTIRETEC MEA LLC: ‘We are proud that the partnership with BSTechnologies, initially signed in February 2010, is developing into this promising joint venture. Together with Mr. Abdullah Al Kaabi and his team we support the vision ‘Abu Dhabi 2030’ under the umbrella of Bin Salem Holding and aspire to occupy a leading position in the technology market in the Middle East.’

The vision ‘Abu Dhabi 2030’ portrays the capital of the United Arab Emirates as an innovative, blossoming location that invites living and working. One of the four key issues is the seamless integration of all entities. ENTIRETEC and BSTechnologies embrace this challenge and provide comprehensive, seamless and user friendly technology solutions.

What is user-controlled entertainment? How can ward rounds using mobile devices reduce costs of hospitals and enhance their attractiveness to patients at the same time? From November 17th to 20th ENTIRETEC provides answers at the International Marketplace for Worldwide Medical Knowledge named MEDICA.

Together with its long-term partner meepl®, a German pioneer in the field of mobile computing in healthcare facilities, ENTIRETEC is represented in hall 15, booth no. G10 at MEDICA. As a well-established IT specialist with a global presence, ENTIRETEC offers extensive expertise in IT networks, combining innovative applications for network, users and management to customized solutions. The company is available for questions about advanced IT solutions in healthcare on all days of the fair.

There ENTIRETEC will give detailed information about its solution for user-controlled multimedia and entertainment called ETAIN. The application enables the patients to put together web content from TV, radio, video and other media according to their needs. If requested ETAIN deposits the patient’s preferences in a user profile. In case of a repeated visit the information can be recalled automatically. Thus exactly the content of interest is displayed to the patient. As a result he feels comfortable and treated personally.

Another focus is the security of the patient’s data as well as the economics of the clinics: As the collection of mobile data in European health facilities gets increasingly necessary in the coming years, new methods of documentation are essential. While ENTIRETEC’s partner meepl® will amplify on the latest devices, the IT specialist will focus on the intelligent interconnection of information based on mobile visits.

With an innovative concept, ENTIRETEC decentralizes the highly secure Internet access of Continental and provides this solution as a fully Managed Services for all sites worldwide.

For the changeover to a more flexible, decentralized concept for highly secure internet access for all its sites, the globally operating supplier to the automobile industry, Continental made the strategic decision to collaborate with ENTIRETEC, the internationally established IT specialist company based in Dresden. Aside from expertise gained in many years of conducting IT projects, ENTIRETEC operates a global network of offices and data centers, which enables the successful completion of this comprehensive project.

Up until now, employees of Continental obtained Internet access via cost intensive nodes in the respective area of operation. The innovative concept designed by ENTIRETEC will decentralize the internet access while fulfilling all security objectives of the automotive supplier. ENTIRETEC provides highly secure internet connectivity with Unified Threat Management as fully managed service. The configuration of the deployed, highly available hardware components as well as operating, monitoring and reporting activities can be performed in an uncomplicated manner.

On November 10 and 11, the project team responsible from Continental will be visiting the ENTIRETEC Office Centre Dresden to further plan the project process. Says Hans-Peter Schober, Head Networks & Communication of Continental about the global project: „Through the decentralized concept by ENTIRETEC, we gain in performance, increase our flexibility whilst reducing cost without compromising on security. With one single step, we have achieved all our strategic goals. Throughout the conceptual design phase and during the negotiation period, ENTIRETEC proved to be a competent and highly motivated partner. The experience from the pilot phase and the beginning of the roll-out leaves us confident that we have made the right decision.”

Thomas Herrmann, CEO of ENTIRETEC is proud to be able to win Continental as new client: „After months of collectively working towards this new concept, we look forward to successfully adding the first sites in the near future. It is our objective to provide the automotive supplier with global internet connectivity with all related resources while guaranteeing security and high availability at the same time. With our managed service strategy, we effectively create a foundation for Continental to aggrandize its IT applications and processes easily at any time in the future."

Already back in 2009, ENTIRETEC developed, in close cooperation with Continental, a concept capable of connecting every corporate site and local entity. At the same time, other expensive methods of transmission are relieved. After extensive evaluation of manufacturers, ENTIRETEC found Astaro to be the most suitable partner to fulfill the requirements of Continental for a secure, decentralized Internet access solution. Since the official commencement of the Project in September 2010, 15 of the scheduled 200 sites were successfully connected to the worldwide network.

SWISSCOM PARTNERS WITH ENTIRETEC, April 16th, 2010

Swisscom Hospitality Services and ENTIRETEC have entered a strategic partnership to serve the international hotel industry with complete multi-site networking solutions. Their combined expertise results in a true one-stop offering that covers all networking and data security needs thereby reducing the total cost of ownership of hotel IT solutions.

The partnership contract signed between ENTIRETEC and Swisscom defines the first
end-to-end network offering in hospitality. This represents a critical step forward for all hotel operators that intend to deploy their PMS, PBX or any other hotel application off-site in a remote data center. Swisscom and ENTIRETEC’s partnered approach opens
the door for the on-demand use of hospitality-specific Software as a Service (SaaS).
Responding to concrete market demand, both companies have decided to act as
exclusive partners for all strategic hotel network-related projects.
Headquartered in Dresden, Germany, ENTIRETEC designs and manages highly available and fully secured local and wide area networks that can transport all types of data, including speech and video in real time. ENTIRETEC serves clients in both the public and the private sector and has partners in different industries such as hospitality, healthcare, automotive, manufacturing and finance. The company already serves major hotel chains with a wide range of services and products in IP communication as well as a remotely managed IT backbone and it is currently setting up a fully virtualized IT infrastructure for one of the biggest hotel projects in the Middle East.
Swisscom Hospitality Services, with head offices in Geneva, Switzerland, is specialized in the building and provisioning of hotel local area networks (LANs). SHS has proven
expertise in integrating multiple applications, including third-party software, and in monitoring them remotely through its advanced network management tools. Its unique local market presence with Account Managers across North America, Europe
and the Middle East gives SHS a vantage point to serve international hotel chains both globally and locally.

“Hotel chains want to reduce the total cost of ownership for their applications by moving them ‘above property’. Indeed, deploying one and the same service individually at multiple locations is not very cost-efficient”, explains Leo Brand, CEO of Swisscom Hospitality Services. “Thanks to our partnership with ENTIRETEC, the virtualization of hotel applications is now becoming a distinct possibility. Jointly with ENTIRETEC we can offer hotel chains and our partner locations a fully secured LAN +
WAN setup, in compliance with the most demanding security standards and policies.
Our joint offer is a one-stop-shop for hotel chains allowing them to benefit from a single network & service level agreements (SLA’s) from the remote application all the way to the end devices in the hotel.”
“I am convinced that our partnership with Swisscom will boost the demand for
integrated network solutions in the hospitality industry”, says Thomas Herrmann, founder and CEO of ENTIRETEC. “We have already demonstrated the viability of our value proposition. Swisscom enables us to develop our hospitality market focus and to
deliver a complete network offering that includes local network design, managed services and bandwidth provisioning. Our first ongoing client projects are very encouraging; they show that our offering creates enormous value in terms of lean service management and better quality of service.”

THOMAS HERRMANN, CEO OF ENTIRETEC, BECOMES ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR 2009, March 28th, 2009

Article of Michael Rothe, Sächsische Zeitung

Thomas Herrmann assembled his first computer when he was merely twelve years of age. Today, the man from Dresden networks people and organizations worldwide with his company, ENTIRETEC. Had there been an award for those making understatements then Thomas Herrmann would have been a hot favorite and an aspirant.

When the 35 year old Chief and Proprietor of the Dresden-based IT company, ENTIRETEC, speaks about top-class contracts concluded in Malaysia or Dubai, it sounds as if he has just won a round of sqash against a supplier in the basement of his own company*s premises. The listener is left with a gaping mouth when he hears that the man from Dresden had assembled his very own first computer at the tender age of twelve, three years before Erich Honecker could pride himself on the “Made in GDR” 1 Megabit memory chip. And that too, while as a trainee with Robotron. For Mr. Herrmann, it is nothing out of the ordinary in this world. This including the fact that he had learnt six programming languages by the time he was 14 years old – apart from English, Russian and Saxon. “I have grown up in the 80’s with the entire computer stuff”, he mentions. His parents, both of whom were teachers, sent him thrice a week to the computer centre at Robotron. The consequence: “During the course of training after shifting to Dresden and Paderborn, I was hopelessly under-challenged.” There is no trace of arrogance, whatsoever. Not a doubt. A smile flits across Hermann’s face, and one sees that man as a boy that he once was. “Sometimes I look forward to attacking a wall, gullible and naive as I am”, he states. Perhaps, it is precisely this lack of solicitousness that has enabled him to chart out his carrier path as the CEO of a global company.

Under his leadership, ENTIRETEC offers highly available and secure applications and individual solutions for IP-based global communication as managed service. How is that? “You need not know this, as long as it works”, is the publicity campaign of the company on the Internet. Mr. Herrmann says: “We build the logic, while others make the cables.” And: “Companies look for us, when Siemens and Telekom start scratching their heads.” With the help of this “Superior Knowledge”, a workforce of 60 achieved annual sales of eight million Euros in the previous year. This is expected to rise to twelve to 15 million Euros in the current fiscal. The next milestone is a workforce of 100 employees, “perhaps even 200 at some point of time”. The mini concern includes four companies in Dresden, Switzerland, Dubai and Malaysia respectively. The next computer centre is coming up there in Kuala Lumpur and yet another in New York. The slogan: Local contacts and networks, otherwise nothing works. Look at Dubai. “That sounded like a Gold Rush at the beginning”, says Herrmann. It was a fallacy. It took almost two years before one could gain a foothold with the Sheikhs.

ENTIRETEC’s clientele stretches from hotel chains to ministries right up to hospitals and from medium-sized enterprises to global concerns – regardless of the industry. That is why the company is also not susceptible to the crisis. “We are not players in a market characterized by cut-throat competition, but, instead, create our own markets. As long as we think globally like a company and work like a start-up organization, nothing can shake us”, explains the CEO. There are not many who can sum up such interactions concisely. Mr. Herrmann sends out an SMS on the side. Can he himself be impressed? Financial accomplishments are comprehensible for which he has no respect, according to Mr. Herrmann. “But I do have respect for someone who can play an instrument.”

Despite the breath-taking degree of success achieved, the Saxon has not forgotten his roots. He commenced his career as the company CEO with a paltry sum of 25,000 Euros, which he put together by borrowing from friends. He still recollects his first order: “I delivered two cables for a price of 21.20 Euros to a customer in the year 2003.” During the course of the first three years we had neither loans nor overdraft facilities. Customers such as BASF and Zeiss reposed their trust in us and paid a year in advance. Others that trusted us were those at Robotron, who ventured into the new start-up with the ex-colleague in the year 2003.

The CEO is proud of his “unbelievably hardworking and dedicated team”. Half of them work in Dresden. The core operations of ENTIRETEC are conducted there in premises newly built at a cost of four million Euros. The four-storey building constructed in a Do-It-Yourself fashion, overlooking the city and Saxon Switzerland, emerges as a high-tech wonder behind the scenery and as an aerial publicity gag: Its layout reflects the company logo. “The building acts as a reference object highlighting what we are capable of”, says Mr. Herrmann. He can control Venetian blinds, computers and diesel plants with a simple click of the mouse. He does not disclose everything. “Power and networks are all that we have here.” And subtle slogans: “You would be pleased to remember your future with us”, is the corporate slogan.

Mr. Herrmann is just what you would call one of those “types”: Cool, sympathetic and down-to-earth. As a “humble and low-profile achiever”, he plays squash instead of golf, customary to those enjoying his level of status and repute and desires to have his own sailing boat some time – “no yacht, a catamaran is adequate”. He prides himself on what he has accomplished and hides his light under the bushel. The self-proclaimed “passionate wacko”, who also wears jeans and a pinstriped jacket once in a while, does not need a benchmark: “Ido not need to be in the top ranks and am satisfied to be part of a successful project.” The subsidiary companies overseas are controlled from Dresden with the help of a monitor screen. The restless mind, thus, does not need to migrate. “The new office premises constitute a statement for the headquarters.” And it benefits from overseas business. Mr. Herrmann loves independence. And he would rather forego large projects for this purpose. Association with an important and established brand name is not an issue. However, business and professional dedication is, since “something or the other is always sponsored”: These include children’s day-care facilities, sports associations and the ‘Stoffwechsel’ association, which cares for handicapped children, recounts the father of three.

At home, in the limelight, there is one matter that bothers Mr. Herrmann: Having heard Mr. John Chambers, CEO of the US network equipment company, Cisco, at various presentations, he perceives ENTIRETEC as being underestimated and not adequately recognised at home. That is a problem of luxury. “To be just once on page 3 in the SZ newspaper, that would be it”, he utters. His wish has been fulfilled now, since Thomas Herrmann has been named Saxon’s “Entrepreneur of the Year”. And this is more than just an award for a humble and low-profile achiever.
