The adminstrative body responsible for a major German state required significant improvements to the state network, enabling it to integrate far more computers, servers and applications without compromising security or performance. Enhanced communication with external agencies and service providers was strongly preferred.
A highly secure network backbone was constructed, providing access points for all of the widely distributed data centres, irrespective of location or the quantity, type or configuration of hardware. Secure access was designed to facilitate permanent application availability, with the option to extend connectivity outside state boundaries in gradual stages.
The state administrator achieved optimum connectivity between every workstation and data centre, gaining improved security and far better data availability and user identity management.
